The point you miss is that MJ accomplished far more during his life than most service persons do during theirs, hence the seeming disproportionate attention over the past week.
Each and every one of us owes a debt of gratitude to generations of soldiers who have defended freedoms that we take for granted today. One of those freedoms is that we can all express ourselves without fear of retaliation -- no matter how misguided or distasteful that expression might be to us who share a different viewpoint.
Jacko made no contribution but to entertain. Obviously there are some who believe that entertainment takes precedent over soldiers who, in defending the USA, die or return home either physically or mentally maimed.
